Follow these simple instructions to play a video at an event:
- In most cases, since you're in the restroom or enjoying your crappy crew meal, you may need to allow for at least 10 minutes to be tracked down by the client
- Respond to the 3 calls, 2 voicemails, 6 texts and 4 requests over the walkie talkie that the client is looking for you
- Allow 5 minutes to figure out what the client is asking for
- Make stage address announcement over the mic to get the crew on headsets
- Wait 3 minutes
- Calm client down during this process (very important)
- Get crew to talk to you on channel 1, not 2
- Figure out that when the client asks for "Ed's video" they actually want to watch "retention_CCG01_r9.mov"
- Before playing the video, ask for Encore 13. (Encore 12 if it's standard def)
- Make sure your A1 has playback 1 live in the room
- Calm down client while this is happening
- Say yes to playback op after the 6th time he asks you if you're ready to play the video
- Calm down client
- Watch video
- Listen to client tell you that's the wrong version
- Track down "retention_CCG01_r21.mov"
- Control the chaos. Calm client down
- Transfer updated file from client's internal media guy who you've seen once the entire event and put file on flash drive
- Walk flash drive back to video playback (allow 3 minutes)
- Ingest newer video
- Calm client down
- Try and play new video
- After realizing this version doesn't have audio, have random media guy give you "retention_CCG01_r36.mov"
- Walk the new file back to playback (allow 2 minutes - figure he/she is running by now)
- Calm client down
- Play video (allow 3-5 minutes)
- Tell playback op he will be getting a newer version 2 minutes prior to doors
- Say "you're welcome" to the client as they exit
- Enjoy your cold pasta - dream of a bio break
