How to Play a Video at an Event

Follow these simple instructions to play a video at an event:
1. In most cases, since you're in the restroom or enjoying your crappy crew meal, you may need to allow for at least 10 minutes to be tracked down by the client
2. Respond to the 3 calls, 2 voicemails, 6 texts and 4 requests over the walkie talkie that the client is looking for you
3. Allow 5 minutes to figure out what the client is asking for
4. Make stage address announcement over the mic to get the crew on headsets
5. Wait 3 minutes
6. Calm client down during this process (very important)
7. Get crew to talk to you on channel 1, not 2
8. Figure out that when the client asks for "Ed's video" they actually want to watch "retention_CCG01_r9.mov"
9. Before playing the video, ask for Encore 13. (Encore 12 if it's standard def)
10. Make sure your A1 has playback 1 live in the room
11. Calm down client while this is happening
12. Say yes to playback op after the 6th time he asks you if you're ready to play the video
13. Calm down client
14. Watch video
15. Listen to client tell you that's the wrong version
16. Track down "retention_CCG01_r21.mov"
17. Control the chaos. Calm client down
18. Transfer updated file from client's internal media guy who you've seen once the entire event and put file on flash drive
19. Walk flash drive back to video playback (allow 3 minutes)
20. Ingest newer video
21. Calm client down
22. Try and play new video
23. After realizing this version doesn't have audio, have random media guy give you "retention_CCG01_r36.mov"
24. Walk the new file back to playback (allow 2 minutes - figure he/she is running by now)
25. Calm client down
26. Play video (allow 3-5 minutes)
27. Tell playback op he will be getting a newer version 2 minutes prior to doors
28. Say "you're welcome" to the client as they exit
29. Enjoy your cold pasta - dream of a bio break
To play a video for a client on your iPad:
1. Turn on iPad
2. Launch videos app
3. Play video

This was recorded last year during my trip to France. It was at a winery on the Porquerolles and this Polish group of vineyard workers were singing this song just before our massive harvest feast. It was an amazing experience and I'm glad I caught a little audio from this haunting yet inspiring folk song.

Tomorrow night, more than 10,000 people are coming to see Michael Jr. perform on stage at the Gateway Church in South Lake, Texas. I'm truly blessed to be a part of this exciting show and can't wait to show it off -- Michael is an amazing dude and extremely talented so it's a real treat to be able to work with him and his team. The entire production crew at Gateway has such an amazing attitude and is so gifted at what they do. Both the 7:00 and the 9:15 shows are sold out! We're using 8 cameras (1 HH, 3 60x long lenses, 1 22x, 2 jibs and a robotic). Stay tuned for pics and updates. In the meantime, pre-order the DVD here. Weird how when I charge a credit card on the Flickr website, everything works just fine. But when I search for a picture, things break. The site goes down. It has hiccups. It's kind of like when the power goes out at a Las Vegas hotel -- everything is rendered useless… except the casino. That always seems to operate at 100% no matter what.
